A Preliminary Survey of Under-Documented Communities and Subjects in Arizona

Mandate and Organizing Authority

Statutes that define the responsibilities of the Arizona Historical Records Advisory Board are located in A.R.S. §41-1355, directs the board to:
  • Serve as the central advisory body for historical records planning and for National Historical Publications and Records Commission funded projects developed and carried out in this state;

  • Serve as a coordinating body to facilitate cooperation among historical records repositories and other information agencies in this state and as a state-level review body for grant proposals as defined in the National Historical Publications and Records Commission guidelines.

Grant Proposal

Applicants must fill out the grant application form and send it to Melanie Sturgeon, Arizona State Archives, Room 342, 1700 W. Washington, Phoenix, AZ 85007. Grants application deadline is March 10, 2010.

Membership

The Director of the Arizona State Library, Archives and Public Records serves as State Coordinator as appointed by the Governor. Membership consists of the Director of the Arizona State Library, Archives and Public Records and at least six members appointed by the Director. Members consist of recognized experts in the administration of government records, historical records or archives and are as broadly representative as possible of public and private archives, records offices and research institutions and organizations in Arizona. Members serve three year staggered terms.
