Are you having trouble connecting to any of these resources? There are several possible issues that could prevent you from being able to access these resources. This page will help you explore some of these issues.
Access to many of our online resources are restricted by the vendors. Access is controlled by your computer's IP address. Anyone coming from a computer at the State Library or Legislature or other select state agencies gets access automatically. Users accessing these resources from another location are asked to log in to our proxy server. This proxy server authenticates users as state employees or library card holders by requiring a login, thus ensuring compliance with vendor restrictions. Since the proxy server is coming from the Arizona State Library, Archives and Public Records, its IP address is accepted by the online resources. We use EZproxy for our proxy server.
If you believe you know your username and password and are typing them correctly and still can't log in:
-Be sure you are NOT adding extra information when typing your name. Only your last name is required.
-If you cannot remember your library card number, contact us using the contact information on the Ask a Librarian page.
Many employers use a firewall for security purposes. Please ask your IT staff to make sure the following port(s) are configured to access AZlibrary.
Access to Port 2048 is required for connecting to AZlibrary resources for State Residents and and Port 8080 is required for connecting to the AZlibrary State Employee resources.
Some proprietary versions of browsers, such as AOL, will not work with EZproxy. A simple workaround is to connect to the provider, minimize your session and use your own copy of Firefox or Internet Explorer for accessing these resources instead of their browser.
You will get a Hostname Error page when you attempt to access a database that has not yet been set up for use by EZproxy. Database vendors often change domain names, or pull content from new computer hosts without informing libraries. When a hostname error occurs, EZproxy's configuration must be updated to include the new host for proxying. To expedite correction of this error, please send the following information to research@lib.az.us:
-The name of the resource you were trying to access
-The computer hostname line listed on the error page
Your browser must accept cookies for you to be able to log in and access these online resources.
Are you starting your database search from a page you have bookmarked? Please try starting your search from the main page at www.lib.az.us/azlibrary/. If that doesn't help, try clearing the cache on your browser.
