Arizona has hundreds of archives, libraries, and museums, as well as genealogical and historical societies, working to preserve Arizona's rich history and diverse culture. Those cultural institutions hold manuscripts, books, photographs, artifacts, and specimens. Often, materials relating to a topic or person are scattered throughout many institutions around the state. The Cultural Inventory Project can lead you to those institution's doors and help you find the different pieces relating to a specific subject that are scattered in different places around the state.
The CIP includes more than 600 cultural institutions and societies working to preserve Arizona's past. You'll find basic directory information, including addresses, phone numbers, emails, and website. The CIP also includes descriptions of each institution's mission and collections.
You can search for a specific institution by name or you can browse institutions that collect certain subjects or in a specific location.
