After Harry Palmer (Michael Caine) is forced into early retirement from the British Secret Service, a mysterious Russian known only as Alex (Sir Michael Gambon) flies him to St. Petersburg. Avoiding assassination by a Chechen gang, Harry agrees to find a lethal biochemical agent that has been stolen from Alex.
