Greater Phoenix Digital Library

More downloadable audio books are now available for iPod users.  There has been a major change in the Greater Phoenix Digital Library.  Most WMA formatted audiobooks can now be transferred to an iPod from a PC using the new Overdrive Media Console 3.2 for PCs.  The new Overdrive Media Console for PCs is now available and can be downloaded for free from the Greater Phoenix Digital Library website.  This change expands the number of titles available to iPod users from around 1,200 to almost 20,000, including our MaxAccess, always available audiobooks.  This change, however, does not apply to customers using Macs.  This is something that Overdrive continues to work on, but there is no estimated time when this might happen for Mac users.

This change has the potential to significantly increase the amount of downloads we have each month.  The change in service is featured prominently at the top of the GPDL website.  We currently have over 27,000 downloads a month, and our downloads for May 2009 were 50% higher than they were for May 2008.
