Volunteers Wanted to Help Spread the
Word to People Who Need Talking Books
Do you enjoy meeting and talking with people? Want to say thanks for service provided to a family member or friend? You could help spread the word about the valuable services provided by the AZ Braille and Talking Book Library by becoming an Outreach Volunteer.
Outreach involves presenting an overview of library services to a small group – such as residents of an independent or assisted living home, or a low vision group or perhaps a civic group who might want to offer financial or other support. Outreach can also mean representing the library at health or community fairs, giving information and answering questions.
We ask Outreach Volunteers to be available for a minimum of three events in a calendar year. Scheduling is flexible and volunteers receive plenty of advance notice.
Training sessions are provided. The two hour session includes materials and information for outreach presentations. Outreach volunteers are provided with a talking point guide, a power point presentation, and a demonstration of an outreach session.
Dates for training : July 21 or July 28 (Tuesday mornings at 10:00) and July 30 (Thursday evening at 6:00) at the Braille and Talking Book Library for outreach events beginning in the fall.
Call Jeanie at 602-255-5578 or email to sign up for the training.
Talking Book News is also available in Braille, on cassette and on our web site at www.lib.az.us/braille . If you would like to receive this newsletter on cassette or in Braille, please call 602-255-5578 or 1-800-2555-5578.
