Founded nearly 30 years ago, with a budget of $150,000, Southwest Human Development now serves 80,000 children and families a year with a budget of $32 million. It is the largest community-based organization of its type in Arizona. Southwest Human Development believes that the relationship among all people involved in infant-family service are a key to organizational effectiveness. Ginger Ward, CEO and Founder, and Alan Taylor, Director of Training will discuss the principles and structural components of relationship-based organizations, stages in development of organizational infrastructure, the roles of leaders and supervisors, and the theoretical grounding for relationship-based organizational design.

Join Vee Browne in her workshop on awareness of Native American children's books by local authors. This workshop will also include a discussion of Native American approaches to storytelling, Native American traditions, and programming ideas for librarians.
Vee Browne works as a professional educator, writer, poet, test administrator, and referee. From Cottonwood/Tselina, she belongs to the Bitter Water and Water Flows Together clans of the Navajo Nation.

James is also the creator of the crucially acclaimed Starchild graphic novel series; and the author of the Mythworld series of novels. He works at the Coppervale Studio in Silvertown, Arizona, where he lives with his family. We will also be raffling off copies of James Owen's books courtesy of Simon & Schuster Publishing
