Funding Sources


State Grants in Aid to Tribal Communities
Tribal libraries are eligible to apply for up to $6,000 each for general tribal library assistance.  They may also apply for additional construction funds.  This money has been appropriated by the State Legislature as State Grants-in-Aid Funding, and is administered by the Arizona State Library.

Deadline: Summer each year (Date Varies)
Amount:  $6,000
Grant Period: 1 year
Eligibility:  Tribal library that has submitted annual statistics.

Library Services Technology Act (LSTA)
The Arizona State Library, Archives and Public Records Agency administers Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA) funds from the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) for field-based competitive grants.
Deadline:  March each year (Date varies)
Amount: Varies
Grant Period:  1 year
Eligibility: Tribal library that has submitted annual statistics.

E-rate Schools and Libraries Program
The Schools and Libraries Program of the Universal Service Fund makes discounts available to eligible schools and libraries for telecommunication services, Internet access, and internal connections. The program is intended to ensure that schools and libraries have access to affordable telecommunications and information services. Provides reimbursements to eligible schools and libraries for telecommunications services, internet access, internal connections and basic maintenance

Deadline: Various Deadlines (Generally November to February prior to funding year)-See E-Rate page:   www.usac.org/sl/
Amount:  Reimbursement for telecommunications services, internet access, internal connections and basic maintenance
Duration:  Applicants must apply each year
Eligibility:  Public library

Institute for Museum and Library Services (IMLS)
IMLS offers the following grants to tribal libraries:
-  Native American Library Services: Basic Grants
   Deadline:  March each year (Date varies)
$5,000 basic grant with option for $1,000 education/training
-  Native American Library Services: Enhancement Grants
    Deadline:  May each year (Date varies)
   Amount: Up to $150,000
