Interlibrary Loan (ILL)
The staff of the Law and Research Library will assist Arizona Legislators
and legislative staff, Arizona state agency employees and regular genealogy
clients with the location and loan of materials from libraries around
the country. Also, materials that circulate from Library and
Archives' collections are loaned to requesting libraries or sent in electronic
format via the Ariel® document delivery system. For more

Borrowing
Resources that are not available in the Library and Archives' collections
may be requested through Interlibrary Loan by:
- Members of the Arizona State Legislature
- Members of legislative staff and staff of Arizona state government agencies
- Genealogy clientele
(requests must be for Genealogy Materials Only, e.g., out-of-state
newspapers on microfilm; photocopies from or loan of genealogy books)
Start by checking the Library and Archives' online
catalog to see if the item is in one of the Library and Archives'
collections or contact a librarian at the Law and Research Library's reference
desk or at the Genealogy desk to do the search for you.
If the item is not in the Library and Archives' collections, complete
an Interlibrary Loan Request Form available at the Law and Research Library's
reference desk or in the Genealogy reading room.
Genealogists who are not able to come to Library and Archives to read
borrowed materials should place Interlibrary Loan requests for materials
using their local library’s Interlibrary Loan service.
Lending
Lending is a service used by other libraries to request the loan of a
specific item (or the photocopying of specific pages, where permitted)
from the Library and Archives' collections.
As a member of OCLC
(symbol: AZP), our lending policies are listed in the ILL Policies Directory.
Libraries not having access to OCLC may check the Library and Archives'
online catalog or phone the
Law and Research Library's Reference Desk at: (602) 926-3870
or (800) 228-4710 (Arizona only).
Interlibrary Loan requests may be submitted by OCLC or ALA
request and submitted by mail, fax or Ariel®. See
Contact Information below.
The Professional Collection, the Genealogy Professional Circulating
Collection and other materials (on a case-by-case basis) are available
for loan. Films from the History and Archives' Arizona Newspapers
on Microfilm Collection may (with some exceptions) be requested through
Interlibrary Loan.
For microfilm loans to other libraries, there is a two-reel limit,
per patron. Additional reels may be ordered after borrowed
reels have been returned and received back. All reels must
be returned in a box.
Charges
There is no charge for lending. Photocopies of paper and
microform holdings will be billed at $ 0.25 per page with a $2.00 handling
charge. Requests for photocopies of a large number of pages
(50 or more) will be charged at a higher rate.
ILL
Fee Management (IFM) payment is also accepted. Libraries
that have signed reciprocal agreements with AZNet,
AMIGOS, AMIGOS/BCR
or LVIS are provided
free photocopying, as per those agreements.
