Databases and Full-Text Resources
Premium databases - controlled access
Because of specific CONTRACT OBLIGATIONS, the following selected
premium databases and electronic resources require passwords or
are available on specific machines or through specific IP addresses
and are listed as a convenience for researchers working
in the Arizona House of Representatives, the Arizona State Senate,
at Electronic Reference Service workstations and at the Law
and Research Library's workstations on the 3rd floor of the
1938 Capitol addition. Topical compilations of web
resources which can be accessed from any machine with access
to the World Wide Web can be found to the right.
Economic information
- ProQuest® - ABI/Inform
This service may be used on any computer with access to the Web
in the Arizona House of Representatives, the Arizona State
Senate, in the Law
and Research Library or at the Carnegie
Center. It includes:
- Journals and other business and economic publications
- provides access to over 3,500 publications, nearly 70%
full text, going back to 1991
- provides access to abstracts of articles going back to
1971
- Wall Street Journal
- Provides full text from 1986 - today
Note: this does not include graphics or stock
tables
- Stat-USA
The main focus of this service is international trade data.
Some databases require a password and must be
used at the reference desk on the third
floor of the Law and Research Library. Data includes:

This has data about international trade with the United States.
- State of the Nation
This has financial and economic data about the U.S. domestic
economy.
Genealogy/family history databases
- Ancestry® library
edition
ProQuest® distributes this library version of Ancestry.com®.
The service includes hundreds of U.S. and British databases which
can be searched at one time by entering an individual's name or
a specific database may be selected and searched.
The service must be accessed from the Law
and Research Library's workstations or at the Carnegie
Center. Databases include:

Online
This in a genealogy service both for those just beginning their
family research and for those who, after years of work, are still
uncovering their past. The service must be accessed
from the Law and Research Library's
workstations or at the Carnegie
Center. The service includes:
- ProQuest's®
Genealogy & Local History Collection
This includes 25,000+ family and local history books. Every
word is searchable and each page can be easily downloaded or copied.
Titles included are from libraries such as the Newberry Library
(Chicago), the Widener Library (Harvard University), the New
York Public Library and the Sutro Library (San Francisco).
- Complete
U.S. Federal Census, 1790-1930
This database includes the census page images and HeritageQuest's™
indexes which may be searched by name, place of birth, age,
ethnicity and other variables.
- PERSI™
- The PERiodical Source Index
The PERiodical Source Index or PERSI™ is produced in
cooperation with the Allen County Public Library Foundation
(Fort Wayne, IN) and is the largest subject index to genealogical
and historical periodical articles in the world.
The index covers more than 6,500 genealogy and local history
periodicals written in English and French (Canada) since 1800.
It may be searched by surnames and locations and there are more
than 1.6 million article citations currently available, with
updates occurring annually.
- Revolutionary
War Pension and Bounty Land Warrant Application Files
This database includes details of records containing genealogical and historical information about 80,000+ individuals who served in the Revolutionary War. Information usually includes the veteran's former rank, unit, and period of service, age or date of birth, residence, and sometimes-genealogical information on other family members.

CD-ROM's with additional indexes and other electronic resources
are available for use on workstations in the Genealogy
Collection reading room.
Government information
The Law and Research Library Division has contracted for three LexisNexis®
databases which provide searchable access to government or legal
resources. The databases may be used on any computer
with access to the Web in the Arizona House of Representatives,
the Arizona State Senate, in the Law
and Research Library or at the Carnegie
Center. The databases included are:
- Congressional information:
- LexisNexis®
Congressional
- CIS indexing and abstracting of congressional publications
and the CIS Legislative Histories (1970 - present).
- Full text of more recent congressional reports, documents,
prints, bills and the Congressional Record.
- Testimony including prepared statements and selected question
and answer transcripts (1988 - present).
- Bill tracking reports that follow bills through Congress
and the text of bills (1989 - present).
- Public Laws (1988 - present) and the United States Code.
- The Federal Register (1980 - present) and the Code
of Federal Regulations.

- Committees rosters, charters and schedules for committees
and subcommittees.
- Inside Washington, which includes articles from
The Hill, Roll Call and The Washington
Post (Section A), gives an insider's perspective on recent
legislative activities.

- Full-text issues dating back to the Register’s first issue
in 1936

This service must be accessed from the Electronic Reference Service
workstations in the Arizona House of Representatives and in the
Arizona State Senate or on workstations in the Law
and Research Library and at the Carnegie
Center. The service includes abstracts or references
to articles appearing in over 800 legal periodicals and references
to law-related articles from over 1,000 business and general interest
periodicals. A few articles are available in full
text. A collection of legal periodicals is available
for use on the 3rd Floor - Mezzanine
of the Law and Research Library. Also, over 700 full-text
U.S., international, foreign law and American Bar Association
journals are available through Hein
Online.

Maps
- Digital Sanborn Maps®
for Arizona
This ProQuest Information and Learning service provides access
to digitized versions of the Sanborn fire insurance maps for Arizona.
These historical maps MAY include information such as the outline
of a building and the function of a structure. The
maps also give street names and house and block numbers. The
database must be accessed from the Electronic Reference Service
workstations in the Arizona House of Representatives and in the
Arizona State Senate or at the Law
and Research Library's workstations.

Center. The database provides access to the electronic
editions of local, regional and national U.S. newspapers of record

within a few days of the current date.

This Online Computer Library Center (OCLC) service provides access
to 11 general reference databases. These databases
may be used on any computer with access to the Web in the Arizona
