Aguila Branch Library
Description: Aguila Branch is one of the Maricopa County Library District library branches.
Purpose: The mission of Maricopa County Library District is to provide access to a wealth of informational and recreational resources for people of all ages and backgrounds so that they may have the opportunity to expand their horizons through reading and learning.

American Evangelical Lutheran Church Literacy Outreach Program
Description: Takes referrals from Yavapai College, DES, NACOG Economic Workforce Development (http://www.nacog.org/economic/default.htm)
Purpose: Affiliated with ProLiteracy America
Apples to Zebras
Description: The City of Chandler recreation program is for 3, 4, and 5-year-old children to enhance early learning through fun activities like art, crafts, science and physical fitness.

Arizona Department of Corrections-Adult
Description: Arizona Department of Corrections is a system of 10 facilities for incarcerated individuals across the state of Arizona.
Purpose: Our mission is to provide programming opportunities and services for inmates including work, education, substance abuse and spiritual access. The mission of the ADC libraries is to support these programs.

Arizona Literacy & Learning Center
Description: Our mission is to provide comprehensive research based screenings, diagnosis, and treatment for individuals with speech/language and reading disabilities. We also provide training for professionals along with promoting family and community awareness programs.
Purpose: Our programs consist of Early Childhood Development Screenings, Comprehensive Evaluations, Language & Literacy Treatment, Adult Literacy, & Community Trainings.

Arizona State Improvement Grant Resource Site
Description: Goal 3: Students with disabilities will attain statistically significant reading gains over their baseline (entry level) score, or against comparabl control groups through the intensive utilization of scientifically based research strategies related to developing early literacy skills and reading skills.
Purpose: Outcomes:
*Increased number of joint PTIs, Part C, and ESS activities targeting the enhancement of parental skills to support children's development of early literacy skills.
*Improved early literacy skills and performance of children ages three to five that are identified as having a developmental delay or a disability that impacts performance.
*Improved reading and literacy performance of students in grades K-3 in under-performing schools who are identified as having disabilities that impact performance.
*Improved reading and literacy performance of students with disabilities four through eight in under-performing schools.
*Curriculum strengthened for special educators because of training and practice in scientifically based literacy skills.

Arizona State University East Library
Description: The ASU East Library is services-oriented rather than collecitons-oriented. We provide access to many print resources of the university libraries and to the growing number of subscription databases and journals that are online--hundreds of databases and thousands of journals. We deliver requested material to the user's desktop whenever possible--in most cases within a day or 2 of the request. Additionally, we offer reference assistance to users both in the library and in remote locations through call center technologies including e-mail, Voice over IP, and chat. Insofar as possible, we make as many of our resources as we can available from anywhere at any time, so the user does not need to visit the library.
Purpose: Located on the Williams Campus, the library provides a full range of services to Williams campus affiliates, supplemented by access to the library holdings of other ASU campuses.

Bookmobile and Outreach Services
Description: Maricopa County Library District provides bookmobile and outreach services across the county. For further information, check the library district website.

BookPALS (Performing Artists for Literacy in Schools)
Description: BookPALS is an all-volunteer literacy program that puts performing artists and theater students in disadvantaged elementary school classrooms to read aloud to children once a week. The program is sponsored by the Screen Actors Guild Foundation which provides a part-time coordinator for each of the 19 branches across the county.
Purpose: The mission of BookPALS is to bring stories to life, making reading fun and enjoyable so that children will want to read for themselves. BookPALS also seeks grants and donations from the community for special programs and to get books into the hands of children.

Books for Babies
Description: Books for Babies is a literacy program presented by Friends of Libraries USA that acquaints parents of newborns with the important role they play in the development of their children. A packet including a variety of informational brochures and baby’s first board book is presented to parents of newborns.
Purpose: By reading to their babies and by becoming regular library users themselves, parents help their babies develop language skills and start them on the path to success in reading and learning. Gift bags are available at each library location (youth area) for expecting and new parents.

Description: A newborn literacy program funded by Friends of Prescott Public Library and coordinated with Yavapai Regional Medical Center.
Purpose: This is a part of the "Reach Out @ Read" national program http://www.reachoutandread.org. This literacy program offers parents of newborn babies the baby's first library card and a library coupon for the first book contained in the parents' hospital release packet.

Description:
Chandler Family Literacy
Description: Provides for the parent and the 3- or 4-year old child coming to the same school at the same time and working together for part of each day.
Purpose: Offered at Pathway Learning Center, five days a week through the school calendar for families within the Chandler Unified School District. It provides adult education instruction, preschool program and parenting skills. Vocational exploration for parents is incorporated. Spanish or English speaking.

Chandler Public Library
Description: Chandler Public Library is a department in the City of Chandler. There is a main library with two branches, Hamilton Branch and Sunset Branch. A third branch, Basha Branch, will open soon.

City of Mesa Library
Description: City of Mesa Library is a system of three library branches serving the citizens of Mesa, AZ and the surrounding area. The three locations are: Main Library, Red Mountain, and Dobson Ranch.
Purpose: The City of Mesa Library exists to support the community cycle of reading, learning and understanding, from the very young awakening to the joys of reading and learning, to students engaged in formal eduction, and to adults pursuing independent learning. The City of Mesa Library accomplishes this through the provision of books and other materials, programming, and a trained and capable staff.

Cochise College Adult Education
Description: Teaches family literacy, English for Speakers of Other Languages, GED preparation, etc.
Desert Foothills Library
Description: Desert Foothills Library is a department of the Town of Cave Creek.
Purpose: The mission statement of the library goes here.
Dexter Family Resource Center
Description: Sponsored through Prescott Unified School District and Yavapai Community College offering adult literacy services, ESOL, GED plus Preschool through 3rd grade programs (3-8 years old).
Purpose: Combines literacy classes for adults, parent & child field trips, parenting skills, etc. Bilingual.
