Training and Classes


A broad range of records management training is provided at no charge by RMD. The training is scheduled on a regular basis or will be provided at any state or local government office for groups of 10 or more attendees. Introduction to Records Management and Retention Schedules
This webinar covers the statutory definition of records and records management, and the reasoning behind a records management program. The requirements of the Arizona Revised Statutes (A.R.S.) are covered. The role of the Arizona State Archives is also discussed as well as records confidentiality and the commercial use of public records. It covers the creation, interpretation, modification and use of records retention and disposition schedules. Record series, retention periods, historical records, and record series “cutoffs” are explained. Also covered are procedures for destroying records.

Managing Electronic Records and E-Mail
Electronic records are creating new challenges for custodians of public records. Aimed at all computer users this session discusses things to watch out for when storing records solely on electronic media and things that you can do to ensure that your records will be protected. There is also a discussion of e-mail, how it fits into the public records laws, and how it should be managed.
